Our city of Effingham, IL is known as The Crossroads of Opportunity. It hosts many special events throughout the year which are listed on the city's web site under the Visitors Bureau Upcoming Events.
- Our rural city also offers:
- Shopping: Village Square Mall with JC Penney as the anchor store, unique boutiques and shops in our historic downtown, in addition to the usual discount retailers that everyone enjoys.
- Take in an evening of live entertainment at the Rosebud Theatre; just 2 miles from our campground. This theatre has something for everyone from country music stars and comedians, to the ballet.
- Dining: With their homemade desserts and soups, Niemerg's Steak House is the place to go. We can also steer you toward any number of national chain restaurants as well as unique dining experiences here in Effingham.
- Antiques: Many antique shops both here in town as well as in the area including Gregory's Flea Market and historic Greenup.
- Sports/Activities: Golf courses (highly recommended by our guests), a driving range, city pool with water slide, tennis courts, bowling alleys, and movie theaters.
- Places of interest: Mid America Motor Works which hosts the annual Corvette, VW, and Porsche festivals and has a Corvette museum on their premises, The Cross at the Crossroads, and a walking tour of unique Sculptures in our downtown area.
